Comparing the “Oedipus Complex” with the “Electra Complex”
[ send me this paper ]
This
6 page report discusses the idea that a child is fascinated,
obsessed even, with the parent of the opposite sex has served as
a literary and psychological debate since, literally, ancient
times. Freud saw this as a universal part of childhood
development, which in most children is resolved during late
childhood. For Freud, the beginnings of the Oedipus complex are
the same for males and females. They love their mother because
she satisfies their needs, and they hate their father because he
competes for the mother's attention and love. Bibliography lists
5 sources.

Comparison of Research Approaches / Family Psychology
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing the method in which four researchers have approached the issue of family cohesiveness and its effect on the children of the family. Most of the studies reviewed revolve in some way around previously established models, and one was little more than a basic literature review of previously published work. Because the focus of each of the others was that of attitudes and feelings, the researchers were unable to employ definite measures of specific qualities. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Comparison Of Three Journal Articles
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page comparison of psychological journal articles addressing extroversion and introversion. Three articles were selected, two from The Journal of Psychology and one from The Journal of Genetic Psychology. The first discussed is an investigation of the reliability of models of determining general personality traits. The second attempts to establish a link between introversion and depression; the third investigates the possibility of a statistical basis for personality traits as indicated by the signs of the zodiac. All of the studies seem to be designed as well as they could be in their areas of investigation, but all seem to conclude that apart from neurosis of either introversion or extroversion, the existence and the description within the individual remains subjective and its definition elusive.

Compensation in Terms of Maslow
[ send me this paper ]
A 15 page paper discussing compensation and job analysis in terms of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. The paper provides a thorough discussion of each of Maslow’s five hierarchical levels to conclude that the organization that can remain cognizant of Maslow's hierarchy of needs when designing or altering its compensation schedules can expect to be better able to define levels at which its employees operate. Compensation certainly is a part of the total employment package, but it is not the largest part. According to Maslow, people seek to belong to the organization and then realize their own potential. When the employee is able to find this path at work, then the organization for which s/he works benefits as well. Bibliography lists 8 sources.

Conceptual Framework Of Posttraumatic Growth And Social Work's Epistemological Approach: Similar
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. To understand what some might consider the opposing perspectives of social work's epistemological approach and the conceptual framework of posttraumatic growth, one must realize the common denominator inherent to both aspects of personal development: That greater knowledge comes with tremendous - albeit unexpected - change. The extent to which beneficial change often takes place within a person who has experienced posttraumatic stress is both grand and far-reaching; that social work epistemology strives to reach the core of such a transformation where personal knowledge is concerned speaks to an intrinsic similarity in what might be misconstrued as otherwise contrasting concepts. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
