In Pursuit of Small Government
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page paper discussing the shortcomings of a constitution alone in guiding the direction of a nation. The paper is based on Anthony DeJasy's observation of a constitution as a "chastity belt" for government, for which government holds the key. The paper concludes that the Constitution we have would suffice nicely in achieving the Framers' intent, but only with a shift in the present power structure of the federal government. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

Inclusionary Housing Policy
[ send me this paper ]
A 25 page paper discussing the origins of inclusionary housing policy and zoning, and its application in California's largest cities. California cities appear to be taking the affordable housing issue much more seriously now than in the past. Though it would be desirable to have additional housing ready now, the market remains strong enough that developers still seek to create more housing units and new commitment to inclusionary housing is likely to create more affordable housing units in the short-range future than in all of the years the programs have been operational. Bibliography lists 23 sources.

India’s International Relations
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page paper discussing India in terms of national security affairs research. US relations with India never have been adversarial, though some economic events under previous governments – such as the Indian government’s nationalization of a Coca-Cola factory in the 1970s - have strained relations for a time in the past. India’s status as a nuclear power and condemnation of terrorism dictate the wisdom of retaining friendly relations with the country, and growing economic relations help to cement that underlying relationship. Individualism And The Bill Of Rights
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. The Bill of Rights absolved any concerns over the absence of natural rights, as well as solidified the union between democracy and liberty. In short, it established the duty of government to "guarantee certain basic liberties, to protect the autonomy and liberty of the individual" (Grant 37A). Based upon ten fundamental properties of said natural rights, the Bill of Rights forged an unprecedented victory for an even stronger constitutional government. Individualism is one of the most highly sought after and hotly debated of all amendments; without the ability to pursue free enterprise and other capitalistic aspects, the very tenets of a democratic society would cease to exist. However, critics argue that when it was first inscribed into the Bill of Rights, none of the constitutional framers could have guessed the extent to which the selfishness of individualism has gone so as to actually become a detriment to society. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

Industrialism And Liberalism In America: Repelling
Ideologies?
[ send me this paper ]
12 pages in length. The changing face of the United States throughout the industrial and post-industrial eras appears to have called into question some of the fundamental assumptions of traditional American liberal ideology. Clearly, one can readily surmise that such ideology has been transformed in response to the social and economic changes that have occurred since the late-nineteenth century. To what extent have the core assumptions of American liberalism continued to dominate American political culture? When one considers whether or not American liberalism has suffered irrevocably, it becomes clear that liberalism, in and of itself, was at least partly responsible for some of these changes. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
